Cornish Housebuilder Donates Over £60,000 to Local Charities in 2024 – Here’s Who Benefited
A Cornwall-based housebuilder has donated more than £60,000 to charities across the region over the course of 2024, providing vital support to organisations making a difference in their communities.
Supporting Life-Saving Work
Among the beneficiaries was Jay’s Aim, a charity dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac arrest in young people across Cornwall and the South West. The organisation raises awareness of heart conditions, delivers life-saving CPR and defibrillator training, and provides publicly accessible defibrillators.
Every week in the UK, 12 people under 35 die from undiagnosed heart conditions, often with no prior symptoms. Jay’s Aim was founded in memory of Jay Osborne, who tragically passed away at 28 while out for a run on his first Father’s Day in 2017. Since 2018, the charity has been working to reduce the number of sudden cardiac deaths.
Dan Osborne, Charity Manager at Jay’s Aim, said:
“Donations like this from Barratt make a huge difference to charities like ours. As a grassroots organisation, we rely on support from businesses and the community to continue our life-saving work. Every contribution helps us place more defibrillators in public spaces, deliver vital CPR training, and raise awareness of undiagnosed heart conditions in young people. With this support, we can keep working towards our goal of reducing sudden cardiac deaths across the South West.”
A Year of Giving
Barratt Homes contributes to local charities each year as part of its commitment to supporting the communities where it builds. In 2024 alone, the housebuilder donated £60,940 to local organisations.
Andrea, Sales Director at Barratt Homes, said:
“We’re proud to have supported so many incredible charities including and other community groups over the past 12 months that work tirelessly to improve the lives of those in need. Their dedication and impact are truly inspiring, and we’re delighted that our donations have played a part in helping them reach even more people. As we move into 2025, we remain committed to making a positive difference in our communities and continuing our support for these vital organisations.”
Each month, every Barratt Homes division donates £1,500 to local organisations working to improve quality of life in their areas.
