She’s not even nine, and she’s about to pedal 24 miles for three Cornish causes close to home.

Morwenna Poole, the daughter of long-serving Newquay RNLI crew member Tim Poole, has already raised more than £1,000 for charity ahead of her first-ever sponsored cycle ride.

A 24-Mile Ride on the Camel Trail

Morwenna is taking on the Camel Trail from Padstow to Bodmin and back, a round trip of 24 miles, and she’ll be just eight years old when she completes it. Her original goal was £800. At the time of writing, donations on her JustGiving page have climbed to £1,025.

The money is being split between three causes: the RNLI, Children’s Hospice South West and Newquay Hospital.

Following in Her Dad’s Wake

Writing on her fundraising page, Morwenna said her dad’s role at the RNLI is part of the reason she chose the charity. “My Dad is in the RNLI and I know how important this charity and sea safety is,” she wrote. “I also want to help kids get better and be able to play and run around like other kids. I also want to help Newquay hospital get more people better.”

Tim has been a helm and crew member at Newquay station for many years.

Newquay RNLI shared the appeal on social media, praising Morwenna for following in the family’s footsteps and supporting the lifesaving work of the charity.

How to Donate

Anyone wanting to back Morwenna’s ride can do so through her JustGiving crowdfunding page. The page is open for donations until mid-August.
