Fundraising Success for a Vital Cause

Members of Falmouth Golf Club have raised an impressive £11,314.61 throughout 2024 to support Penhaligon’s Friends, a Cornish charity that provides specialist support for bereaved children.

The club’s captains, Ladies Captain Toni Novent and Men’s Captain Phil Jones, chose to back the charity after learning about its vital work in supporting more than 1,000 children and young people across Cornwall each year.

Events Driving the Fundraising

The funds were raised through a series of events held at the club, including the Captains’ Charity Day and the Captains’ Drive In.

Phil said:

“Toni had the idea to work with Penhaligon’s Friends so we met with them and were absolutely bowled over by the charity’s work. We were in no doubt that this would be an excellent cause to support during our Captains’ year.”

Impact on Bereaved Families

Julie Parker from Penhaligon’s Friends expressed her gratitude for the club’s efforts, saying:

“We are thrilled to have received this incredible donation from Falmouth Golf Club. We are extremely grateful to everyone at the club for their hard work and generosity. A very special thank you goes to the club’s captains, Phil, Toni, and Henry Cooper, the junior captain, for choosing to support Penhaligon’s Friends during their year.”

The donation will be used to create and distribute hundreds of bespoke postal grief packs for children and families referred to the charity in 2025 and 2026.

Julie added that Penhaligon’s Friends continues to seek support from Cornish businesses, individuals, schools, and clubs to ensure it can carry on helping bereaved children across Cornwall in the years ahead.
