Reindeer Run Raises £1,700: How Cornwall Turned Festive Fun into Lifesaving Support
Did You Miss It? Cornwall’s First RNLI Reindeer Run Raises £1,700 for Lifesaving Efforts
The first-ever Cornwall RNLI Reindeer Run has successfully raised £1,700 to support the charity’s mission to save lives at sea. The event, held on Saturday, 4th January at Par Athletics track, saw 50 runners turn up in festive fancy dress to close out the season with a dash of fun and fundraising.
A Delayed Start but a Festive Finish
Originally scheduled for 7th December, the run had to be postponed due to stormy weather. However, the new date didn’t dampen the spirits of participants who gathered to run either a 2k or 5k route.
Adults and children came together for the event, which combined fitness, fun, and fundraising. By the end of the morning, sign-ups, sponsorships, fundraising, and souvenir sales contributed to the impressive total raised.
Community Spirit at Its Best
Esther Farrant, RNLI Community Manager and organiser of the event, expressed her gratitude, saying: “Our first ever Cornwall RNLI Reindeer Run went really well, a huge thanks to all the participants and volunteers for getting involved, and to the Par Track café team for keeping us all warm with hot drinks!”
The Par Track café team played a key role in keeping runners and supporters warm with hot drinks throughout the event.
The RNLI continues to rely on community events like these to support their vital work along Cornwall’s coastline. If you’d like to find out more about the RNLI’s lifesaving efforts or upcoming events, visit their official website.
