St Austell Brewery golf day raises £10,000 for children’s hospice

A round of golf, a barbecue and a pair of Ariana Grande tickets have added up to £10,000 for children’s hospice care across the South West.

St Austell Brewery has raised £10,000 for Children’s Hospice South West after a charity golf day that brought together customers, suppliers and partners from around the region.

The event was held at the historic Royal North Devon Golf Club, with guests spending the day on the course before a barbecue, auction and raffle. Prizes on offer included tickets to see Ariana Grande, which helped push the final total higher.

Where the money goes

The funds go to Children’s Hospice South West, chosen by the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust as its Charity of the Year. The charity cares for children with life-limiting conditions and supports their families across the region.

It runs three hospices, in Cornwall, Devon and North Somerset, offering far more than medical and nursing care. Every stay is designed to enrich lives, create precious memories, ease emotional and practical pressures and help families make the most of their time together.

“Bringing together our customers, suppliers and colleagues was a brilliant way to support an incredible charity that makes a real difference in the South West. We’d like to thank everyone who took part and showed such generous support throughout the day.”

Fish and chips and a year of fundraising

The golf day is one of several efforts running through the year. One of the brewery’s key initiatives is donating 25p from every portion of fish and chips sold across its 45 managed pubs.

Teams across the company’s head offices, breweries, pubs and depots are also taking part in their own activities throughout the year to help raise more for the charity.
