St Petrocs Releases Documentary Highlighting Homelessness in Cornwall
St Petrocs has released a short documentary that lifts the lid on the unseen daily realities faced by people experiencing homelessness in Cornwall. The film follows Outreach Worker Liz as she supports two people in need, putting a human face to the challenges the charity tackles every day.
A Look Behind the Scenes of Outreach Work
The documentary focuses on the charity’s outreach service, which makes sure no one faces harsh winter conditions alone. Donated by Idenna Creative, it was directed and filmed by Simon Reid, the company’s Head of Film and Photography and a dedicated volunteer with the charity.
Simon Reid said, “It was a real privilege to work with St Petrocs. Being able to combine my profession and volunteering felt genuinely meaningful. No one deserves to be without a home, and I hope the documentary helps highlight the vital work St Petrocs carries out every day.”
One of the people featured in the film said, “I’ve been homeless on and off for three years… It’s very lonely and it does play on your mental health… This is my third winter now, and it’s starting to wear a bit thin.”
Since filming, one person in the documentary has moved into St Petrocs’ emergency accommodation and is continuing to receive support to find stable housing.

Winter Appeal Launched
The release of the documentary ties in with St Petrocs’ Winter Appeal, which raises funds to provide vital support during the coldest months of the year.
Last winter, the charity provided emergency accommodation for 107 people who would otherwise have been forced to sleep rough. Of those supported, 91 percent did not return to sleeping outside.
With 166 rooms currently fully occupied, demand for help continues to grow. St Petrocs is asking the public to support the appeal through donations, volunteering or fundraising.
