Terrified of Heights, Rob to Skydive 10,000ft in Memory of Son Ethan

A father from Cornwall is preparing to face his fears by jumping 10,000 feet from a plane at Perranporth Airfield on Sunday 1st June, to honour the memory of his son Ethan.

A Leap of Love and Remembrance

Rob, a dedicated supporter of Sunrise Cornwall CIC and now a trained facilitator for the organisation, is taking on the skydive to mark what would have been Ethan’s 21st birthday. Ethan took his own life in February 2021 at just 16 years old.

Rob will be joined in the jump by his daughter Ellie and her partner Kyle. Despite his fear of planes and heights, he is determined to complete the challenge in support of Sunrise Cornwall, a community interest company providing free events, workshops, and activities for adults affected by loss through suicide.

“Flying Scares the Hell Out of Me”

Speaking about the challenge ahead, Rob said:

“As most people are aware we lost my beautiful boy back in February 2021 at the age of just 16. His 21st is coming up on the 1st June and to celebrate this milestone I have somehow allowed my daughter Ellie to convince me to jump out of a plane, alongside Ellie’s partner Kyle, from 10,000 FT!”

“I am the man who does not like flying, it scares the hell out of me. And I religiously watch Air Crash Investigation. We are doing this to raise money for 3 amazing organisations. I am raising money for the amazing Sunrise Cornwall CIC.”

How to Support

Rob and Sunrise Cornwall CIC are urging people to support the skydive by donating or sharing their Crowdfunder.

Sunrise Cornwall CIC runs wellbeing activities based on music, art, and peer support to help those affected by suicide loss.

Rob’s courage is inspiring many, and the community is rallying behind him as he prepares to take the plunge for a cause close to his heart.
