Somewhere in South East Cornwall there is a child with a felt-tip pen and an idea. By December, their drawing could be landing on doormats across the area and on desks in Westminster.

Local MP Anna Gelderd has launched her Christmas card competition for the third year running, inviting primary school-aged children from across South East Cornwall to design her festive card. The winning design will be sent out locally and to the people Anna works with in Westminster.

This year’s theme: Christmas in Cornwall

The brief for 2026 is Christmas in Cornwall. Children are being asked to celebrate the places, people and traditions that make South East Cornwall special at this time of year.

Anna Gelderd, Member of Parliament for South East Cornwall, said: “I am really pleased to launch my third annual Christmas card competition as South East Cornwall’s MP. It has quickly become one of the highlights of my year because I get to see first-hand just how creative the children in our area are, and I’m always blown away by the designs that are submitted.”

She added: “I look forward to seeing this year’s designs, and I’m asking local children to think about what Christmas in Cornwall means to them and come up with a design that celebrates our local area during the Christmas period.”

How to enter

Designs can be hand-drawn or made on a computer, and they need to be in portrait orientation.

Each entry should include:

  • the child’s name
  • their age
  • their school
  • a note from a parent or guardian saying they are happy for Anna to use the design

There are three ways to send an entry in. Email it to [email protected], share it on social media and tag Anna, or post it to Anna Gelderd MP, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA.

The closing date

Entries close on Sunday 8 November. Anyone sending a design by post is asked to get it in the mail well ahead of that date, so it arrives in time.
