Secondary School Deadline Approaching: Don’t Miss Out on Your Child’s Place

Parents in Cornwall are being reminded that the deadline to apply for secondary school places for the 2024 academic year is fast approaching. Cornwall Council has announced that the cut-off for applications is 31 October 2024.

For children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, it’s essential to submit an application before this deadline to secure a secondary school place. You can apply through the Council’s admissions portal here.

Primary and Junior School Applications

For those with children starting infant or primary school, the application deadline is later but still important to note. Parents with children born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 must apply by 15 January 2025. Similarly, if your child is attending an infant school and will be moving to junior school (born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018), applications are also due by 15 January 2025. University Technical Colleges (UTC) and Studio Schools

If your child is planning to attend a University Technical College (UTC) or studio school for Year 9, such as Scott College in Plymouth, the application deadline is 31 October 2024. These schools focus on key stage 4 education, and applications for such schools are handled separately.
