What St Joseph’s boys learned on the fairways at St Enodoc
A driving range, a chipping area and a few holes of Texas Scramble. For a group of St Joseph’s pupils, that was the classroom for a day.
Students from Years 8 to 11 at St Joseph’s spent a day being coached at St Enodoc Golf Club last term, and it made for a very different kind of school day.

From the range to the green
The boys started out on the driving range and the chipping area, working through the basics with coaches on hand.
Then came the real test. They put their new skills into practice over a few holes of Texas Scramble.
More than a swing
Along the way they picked up coaching tips and learned more about golf etiquette. But the lesson that stood out most was a simpler one, the value of supporting and encouraging each other.
Prizes for four
Special prizes were handed out at the end of the day, including Wombat Golf balls and St Enodoc markers.
They went to Ed, Dexter, Josh and Henry, in recognition of their sportsmanship, perseverance and effort.
A member of staff who spent the day with the group said: “It was a pleasure to spend the day with the boys, and I was incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves throughout the day. A fantastic group who represented the school brilliantly!”
