Casualty on Towan Beach draws three teams in Newquay

It took more than one team to help a single casualty off Towan Beach, in Newquay, on Wednesday afternoon. The call came in just before 1pm, and by the time it was done the coastguard, the beach lifeguards and an ambulance crew had all played a part in getting one person off the sand and into care.

A callout at 12.58pm

The Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked at 1258hrs on Wednesday 12 August, logged as tasking number 107. The team was sent to back up RNLI lifeguards at Towan and South Western Ambulance Service, who were already dealing with a casualty on the beach.

Off the sand and into the ambulance

When the coastguard team arrived, it helped with the casualty’s care. The team then helped move the person off the beach and across to the ambulance once it reached the scene. Newquay Rangers lent a hand as well, and the coastguard team passed on its thanks to them.

The team’s parting message was a short one. If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
