Multi-Team Response
Mevagissey Coastguard was paged to assist their neighbouring team, Portscatho Coastguard Rescue Team, alongside South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
The teams worked together to locate the casualty, who was found near Porthbean Beach.
Challenging Rescue Conditions
Once located, casualty care was provided at the scene before a lengthy stretcher carry began. The route took teams along the beach, over rocks, up to the coast path and across several fields to reach a nearby farm.
At the farm, the casualty was handed over to ambulance crews for onward transport and medical treatment.
Reminder for Walkers
The incident highlights how quickly situations can change, even for those who are well prepared and properly equipped.
Coastguard teams are reminding anyone heading out in rural or coastal areas not to delay calling for help if needed. In remote locations, emergency services can take time to arrive, so early contact can make a significant difference.
Anyone in difficulty is advised to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
