A shout just before five
Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked at 16.51 today, 18 August 2026, to reports of two missing children on Marazion beach, between Little and Great Hogus rocks. It was the team’s 50th tasking of the year.
Lifeguards, a lifeboat and a coastline search
The volunteer coastguard team was quickly on scene and made contact with RNLI South Cornwall lifeguards, who confirmed the children had last been seen in the water.
With lifeguards searching the beach and the Penlee Lifeboat already on scene searching the water, the coastguard team made plans to begin a coastline search of the rocks and shoreline.
Found safe and well
Before that search got under way, the team was made aware the two children had been located safe and well, in the play park. Once that was confirmed, every asset involved was stood down.
“A great outcome for all concerned,” the team said afterwards.
