Camborne and St Austell bike workshops run short before Christmas
Somewhere in Cornwall there’s a small bike leaning against a shed wall, tyres slowly going soft, stabilisers still on. A local bike workshop would like it back on the road before Christmas.
The Cornwall Bicycle Project is gearing up for its Christmas campaign, which helps families in need get hold of affordable bikes for their children. But there’s a problem. It is currently short of children’s bikes to renovate.

Old bikes, new owners
Each year the team takes donated bikes and gives them a new lease of life, making cycling more accessible and affordable for families who might otherwise struggle to buy a bike at Christmas.
So if there’s a child’s bike sitting unused in your shed, garage or garden, the project would rather it didn’t gather dust. That outgrown bike could end up as another child’s Christmas present.
Where to drop off a donation
Children’s bikes are being accepted at both of the project’s branches, in Camborne and St Austell.
There’s no need to ring ahead. Just turn up with the bike and the team will take it from there.
Why it matters
Every donation helps a local family towards an affordable Christmas, and it also supports the wider work The Cornwall Bicycle Project does in the local community.
The project is also asking people to share its appeal to help spread the word, with the aim of putting more children on bikes this festive season.
In its own words, “One unwanted bike could make a world of difference to another family this Christmas.”
