Cornish Traders Organise Prize Draw to Support Andrew
A community fundraising draw has been launched to support Andrew, a well-known market trader, following a life-changing diagnosis of Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
Organisers say the prize draw brings together local businesses and traders from across Cornwall, with more than £1,250 worth of prizes up for grabs. Every penny raised will go directly towards helping Andrew during his recovery.

A Sudden and Serious Diagnosis
Andrew was recently diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare neurological condition. What started as pain and tingling quickly developed into severe weakness, leaving him unable to walk and with limited use of his arms.
He is currently in hospital receiving treatment. His recovery is expected to take weeks or even months, including rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
As a self-employed trader, Andrew has lost his income while still facing ongoing living costs.
Community Steps In
In response, fellow traders and local businesses have come together to organise a fundraising prize draw.
Tickets cost £5 each, and organisers say there are more than 30 prizes available, meaning over 25 winners will be selected.
The total prize value exceeds £1,500, with items donated by a wide range of Cornish businesses.
What You Could Win
The prize list includes a mix of products, vouchers and experiences, such as:
- Jewellery, flowers and handmade crafts
- Artisan homewares and food items
- Celebration cakes and sweet treats
- Candles, skincare and wellness products
- Cornish art and creative workshops
Among the prizes are items like a £100 chopping board from Barratt Boards, a £100 voucher from Bkaha Ceramics, a celebration cake voucher from Method Bakery, and a cheese, crackers and chutney box from The Cornish Cheesemonger.
Every prize has been donated, meaning all ticket sales go directly to Andrew’s recovery fund.
