A grant fund tied to an old Cornish manor estate has quietly reopened, and this time the money is earmarked for the people living around it rather than a school many miles away in Wiltshire.

What the fund is for

The Trevalga, Tintagel and Boscastle Fund was set up by the Gerald Curgenven Will Trust to provide a lasting source of funding for the three north Cornwall parishes. It is designed to support both individuals with personal development costs and grassroots community and voluntary groups and projects working to improve the lives of people living in Trevalga, Tintagel and Boscastle.

The fund is administered by Cornwall Community Foundation, and the individuals’ strand is now open for applications.

Who can apply, and for what

The individuals’ grant is aimed at people who have been resident in Trevalga, Tintagel or Boscastle for at least 12 months and who have clear personal development goals, such as improving their employability prospects. Grants of up to £1,000 are available, and priority goes to applicants dealing with long term unemployment, barriers to work, disability, financial hardship or a lack of confidence.

Funded projects need to start from mid-October onwards and must be completed within a year of the grant being awarded. The fund will not cover contributions to an endowment, deficit funding, loan repayments, retrospective costs, projects whose beneficiaries are not people, or anything intended to promote a particular religious belief or political cause.

Key dates

Applications opened on 24 July 2026 and close on 2 September 2026. A panel will discuss submissions in early October, with decisions and deposits expected by mid-October, typically within ten days of the panel’s decision.

Not just for individuals

Alongside the personal development grants, the wider Trevalga, Tintagel and Boscastle Fund also backs grassroots community and voluntary groups and projects working to improve life in the three parishes. Full information, including how groups can apply, is available on the Cornwall Community Foundation website, where individuals can also apply for the personal development grant online. Anyone wanting to talk it through first can contact the foundation’s grants team on 01566 779 333 or at [email protected].
