Oddfellows Group Supports Hidden Help with Household Donations

A Friendship Group from the Oddfellows Friendly Society in Green Lane, Redruth, has stepped in to support a local charity by funding the donation of essential household items for people facing hardship.

Supporting ‘Hidden Help’ in Redruth

Members of the group backed ‘Hidden Help’, a charity based in Scorrier, Redruth, which provides practical support to individuals and families across Cornwall.

The charity redistributes good quality donated items such as furniture, clothing and household essentials. As well as helping those in need, this approach also reduces waste by giving items a second life.

The Oddfellows group funded a range of new items including toasters, kettles and bathroom essentials. These donations are set to support vulnerable people in the local area through the charity’s ongoing work.

A Warm Welcome and Community Effort

The group received a warm welcome from Judy Backus, founder of ‘Hidden Help’, which was established in 2007. The donated items were unloaded from the delivery vehicle under the watchful eye of Tina English, Provincial Grand Master of the Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows.

“In addition to supporting our members, the Oddfellows Friendly Society is proud to fundraise for a variety of causes, both nationally and internationally, including cancer research and disaster relief. However, we also recognise the importance of continuing to support smaller, local initiatives that provide essential services within our communities. Acting at the request of our members, we are thrilled to offer our support to Hidden Help and we are so proud that our lodges and friendship groups are able to make a meaningful difference to those in need.”
