What’s in a Name? Discover the Secrets Behind Cornwall’s Place Names at These Free Talks

Curious about the meanings behind Cornwall’s unique place names? Plymouth & Truro District Oddfellows are hosting a free illustrated talk, ‘A Kernow-copia of Cornish Placenames’, presented by the ‘Redruth Antiquarians’.

The talks will explore how place name elements offer clues to an area’s history, with plenty of examples and opportunities for discussion. A short three-minute film about the Oddfellows Friendly Society will be shown before each presentation.

When and Where?

The events take place at the following locations:

📍 Tuesday 4th March 2025, 2:00 PM – Oddfellows Hall, 49 Green Lane, Redruth, TR15 1LL
📍 Wednesday 5th March 2025, 2:00 PM – Upstairs room at Central Bar, Saint Mary’s Street, Truro, TR1 2AF
