Praise for the outgoing Prime Minister
Anna said Sir Keir had worked with grit and determination to rebuild the country and to lead the Labour Party. “Sir Keir Starmer is a man truly committed to public service, a hard worker, and a leader with great dignity,” she said.
She added that she was proud of what his government had delivered so far. In her words, Britain had shown strength on the world stage and stability during a period of global uncertainty.
What his leadership meant for South East Cornwall
Anna pointed to changes she says will be felt locally for years to come. She named investment in the NHS, stronger support for families of children with SEND, and tougher action on water pollution.
She also highlighted investment in clean energy industries and jobs through the Kernow Industrial Growth Fund. She called these foundations for local opportunities and stronger public services.
A message for the next Prime Minister
Anna was clear about what she expects from whoever replaces Sir Keir as Labour leader and Prime Minister. She said she would keep putting South East Cornwall first and work to make sure the area’s needs are understood in Westminster.
“I will make sure that we are heard loud and clear in Westminster,” she said.
She framed the benefits delivered so far as Labour values, and said the next Prime Minister must take bold action so they can keep being delivered.
