An ABBA Tribute Band Is Headlining Helifest Near Redruth

Cornwall Air Ambulance’s Helifest is back at the start of July, and this year the main stage has an ABBA tribute band on it. Which gives you just over two weeks to dig out the flares.

When and where

Helifest returns to Scorrier House in Redruth on Saturday 4 July, running from 10.30am until 6pm. The day celebrates the work of Cornwall Air Ambulance alongside the wider blue light community across the region.

Ticket holders get the chance to meet members of the charity’s crew and representatives from emergency services, hear talks, explore a range of emergency vehicles and watch live demonstrations through the day.

The lineup

Headlining the main stage is Take a Chance On Us, described as one of the UK’s premier live ABBA tribute bands. They are joined by a mixed bill of local talent.

Sea shanty favourites Barrett’s Privateers are on the bill, along with all-women Cornish band Kana and Porthleven solo artist Seamus McKenna. The Tregony Teachers bring the sing-along classics. There is also a Community Stage running its own set of performances from local artists.

What else is on

Away from the music there are fairground rides, arts and crafts stalls, refreshments from local Cornish traders and entertainment for all ages. Adventure 001 will be running helicopter flight experiences across the day.

Tickets

Tickets are on sale now through the Cornwall Air Ambulance website. Prices have been held at the same level again, with children at £5, adults at £10 and a family ticket at £20 covering two adults and up to three children.

Karen Hurn, Head of Fundraising and Philanthropy at Cornwall Air Ambulance, said the event has grown steadily over the past five years.

“Helifest gives us an opportunity to shine a light on the outstanding work our blue light colleagues deliver every single day and offers a chance for us to thank our community in person for all the generosity they show us,” Karen said. “We can’t wait to see everyone there, so with just over two weeks to go, make sure you grab your tickets!”

Why it matters

Cornwall Air Ambulance is the UK’s first air ambulance service, with 2027 marking its 40th anniversary. The charity receives no direct government funding towards running costs and needs to raise more than £9m a year to keep flying, which is why events like Helifest matter.
