Runway Runaround Returns: Will You Take on the Challenge?

Runners of all abilities are invited to take part in the 2025 Runway Runaround, as the popular fundraising event for Cornwall Air Ambulance returns to Perranporth Airfield on Saturday 18th October.

Fun Runs for All Ages

The event will feature two runs, starting with a 2.5K circuit for children up to 16 years old, where fancy dress is encouraged. One parent can join their child for free, making it a great opportunity for families to get involved in the fun.

Following a short break, the 10K adult run will take place, open to those over 16. Fancy dress is optional for this longer challenge, but participants are encouraged to bring their energy and enthusiasm to the runway.

A Life-Saving Cause

Among last year’s participants was John Stedman, who walked the entire 10K just months after suffering a heart attack and being airlifted to hospital. John was even able to cross the finish line alongside Critical Care Paramedic Paul Maskell, who had treated him at the scene and transported him to Treliske for urgent care.

Reflecting on the experience, John said:
“It was lovely, it was great to see Paul again and it was really personal. Without the air ambulance I’m sure many people would lose their lives, or their outcomes from injuries would be far, far worse. It’s a lifesaver, there’s no doubt about that.”

The event raises crucial funds for Cornwall Air Ambulance, with additional fundraising beyond the entry fee helping to keep the service flying and saving lives across the county.

“Runway Runaround was a huge success last year, with hundreds of you turning up in some wonderful costumes, and we’re thrilled to be bringing it back again. We hope you’ll join us for another fun event as we all help to raise funds for our local lifesaving charity.”

A live DJ will be on-site to keep runners motivated, and food and drinks will be available from the airfield café.
