Sing It Home with Cornwall Air Ambulance: Every Donation Doubled This Christmas

Published On: 7 December 2024Last Updated: 7 December 2024By

The Cornwall Air Ambulance Heli2 Appeal has reached a significant milestone, with over £1.42 million raised towards its £2.85 million target. The funds will go towards purchasing a second AW169 helicopter, enhancing the lifesaving service across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Lifesaving Mission Reaches Halfway Mark

The appeal, launched to secure a second state-of-the-art aircraft, has gained momentum thanks to the generosity of supporters. With £1.42 million already raised, the charity is on track to introduce the new helicopter by spring or summer next year.

Steve Garvey, Air Operations Officer, emphasised the importance of the new addition:
Owning a second state-of-the-art AW169 will boost the resilience, capability and versatility of our service. It means that whenever the weather allows, we’ll always have an aircraft ready and available even during periods of planned or unplanned maintenance. Ultimately that will mean we can attend more missions by air, get our highly trained clinical crew and their specialist kit to scene as quickly as possible, and ultimately, save even more lives.

Festive Fundraising: Double Your Donations

During the Christmas season, donations to the Cornwall Air Ambulance will have twice the impact, thanks to generous donors pledging to match every contribution. Funds raised during this period will go directly towards the Heli2 Appeal, helping to bring the second helicopter to Cornwall.

Tim Bunting, Chief Executive, expressed gratitude for the support so far:
On behalf of all the aircrew, staff and volunteers at Cornwall Air Ambulance we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported the Heli2 Appeal so far. You are making a lifesaving difference, by enabling us to be there for those who are critically ill or injured across the county. We cannot do this without you, and now really is the time to join the mission and help to bring that second helicopter to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Supporting the Appeal

The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust relies entirely on donations to fund its operations, which cost over £7 million annually. The service attends more than 1,000 missions each year, with the helicopter often on scene within 12 minutes in mainland Cornwall and under 30 minutes on the Isles of Scilly.

Every donation helps ensure that critically ill and injured patients across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly receive swift, lifesaving care.
