Cornish Pirates and Cornwall Airport Newquay Reveal New Partnership

The Cornish Pirates have announced a new partnership with Cornwall Airport Newquay, revealing plans that will see the club take over part of the airport’s departure lounge for the rest of the season.

The deal was unveiled today, marking what both organisations describe as an exciting collaboration between two well-known Cornish names.

Pirates Land in Departure Lounge

As part of the agreement, the Cornish Pirates have secured an exclusive takeover of part of the airport’s departure lounge. Pirates merchandise will also feature within the space, giving travelling passengers a taste of the club as they pass through the terminal.

In return, Cornwall Airport Newquay will have a presence at The Mennaye on match days.

Cornwall Airport Newquay serves as Cornwall’s international gateway, connecting the region to key destinations across the UK and Europe through seven airline partners. The airport has a recently refurbished terminal with next-generation security screening, aimed at making travel quicker and easier for passengers. It continues to invest in sustainable growth that supports Cornwall’s communities, businesses and visitors.

Hopes for a Long-Term Partnership

Head of Commercial and Communications at Cornish Pirates, Ross Hancock, said:

“We’ve been working on this partnership for a while now, so it’s great to finally share it with everyone. This is a major initial opportunity that we are hoping will turn into a long standing partnership, between two of Cornwall’s most iconic names. I’d also like to thank Cornish Chillies and Rob Popham for their assistance and support during this project, who helped deliver it. I’d also like to thank Perran Signs for transforming the room with a fantastic visual.”

Commercial Manager at Newquay Airport, Rebecca Marks, added:

“We’re incredibly proud to be partnering with the Cornish Pirates. As two organisations that represent Cornwall on a national stage, this collaboration feels like a natural fit. We’re delighted to welcome the Pirates into our terminal and showcase the club to passengers who travel through Cornwall Airport Newquay, and we look forward to building a strong, long-term partnership together.”

The partnership will run for the remainder of the current season, with both sides expressing hopes it will develop into a lasting relationship.
