Cornwall College Engineering T Level Gains FLOWmark Recognition
Cornwall College has secured industry recognition for its Engineering and Manufacturing T Level after the course gained a FLOWmark, a standard that highlights training aligned with future skills and local job opportunities.
The qualification has been developed in partnership with Celtic Sea Power, supporting clearer routes into the green energy sector, including floating offshore wind.
Industry input shapes the course
The Engineering and Manufacturing T Level, delivered at Cornwall College St Austell, has been shaped with direct input from Celtic Sea Power. The collaboration helped ensure the course reflects emerging industry needs.
Darren Reski, Curriculum Area Manager for Electrical, Engineering and Motor Vehicle at Cornwall College St Austell, said:
“The Engineering & Manufacturing T Level at Cornwall College is really special.
“We have worked closely with Celtic Sea Power, who have FLOW-marked our T Level. Their input has helped shape the course, so students gain up-to-date, industry-relevant skills that reflect emerging sector needs, including experience linked to floating offshore wind.”
With the FLOWmark in place, the T Level is highlighted as a credible route for students looking to work in the floating offshore wind sector.
Building a skills pipeline for green energy
Celtic Sea Power said the course was well matched to the aims of FLOWmark, which recognises education that supports both future workforce needs and immediate local opportunities.
Olivia Whittle from Celtic Sea Power said:
“Our approach is about building a pipeline towards specialist skills for fast-growing green industries such as FLOW. Key to that is recognising courses which are a step on that journey as well as a practical enabler to local opportunities in the here and now.
“This T-Level was a perfect fit for FLOWmark and we are delighted to progress this industry-education partnership with Cornwall College.”
What the T Level covers
The Engineering and Manufacturing T Level is delivered over two years and covers a broad range of subjects including robotics, mechatronics and electronics. It combines classroom learning with multiple industry placements.
“This gives students a strong first step into engineering and manufacturing,” added Darren. “The experience they gain will support their next steps and help them progress with confidence.”
Equivalent to three A Levels, the qualification carries UCAS points. On completion, students can move straight into employment, progress to an apprenticeship or continue into higher education.
FLOWmark recognition also signals to employers that students completing the course are prepared for the practical demands of the sector.
