Residents Asked for Views on Motorhome Parking and Car Park Tariffs
Residents across Cornwall are being asked to share their views on proposed changes to car park rules, including allowing overnight parking for motorhomes and introducing new parking charges.
The proposals have been put forward by Cornwall Council and are now open for public consultation.
Overnight motorhome parking expansion
The plans follow a successful trial in Bude and would allow fully self contained motorhomes to park overnight in ten additional car parks across Cornwall.
Possible changes to parking charges
Alongside motorhome parking, the proposals include introducing a £2 all day parking charge in several car parks that are currently free of charge. Charges could also be brought in at some car parks that are free during the winter months.
Residents encouraged to have their say
People are being invited to give their views through a public consultation, which runs until Wednesday 4th February.
The consultation is being hosted on Let’s Talk Cornwall, where residents can review the proposals and submit feedback.
Council response
Dan Rogerson, Cornwall Council cabinet member for transport, said:
“We’re considering a range of proposals to address requests from motorhome users, as well as safeguarding access to some of our public spaces and supporting traffic management.
“However, I appreciate that some residents may park in our free car parks as they are unable to park outside or near their homes, and I particularly encourage those residents to take part in the consultation so that we can understand the impact.
“These are proposals at this stage and I very much encourage residents to take part in the consultation.”
Residents can take part in the consultation by visiting Let’s Talk Cornwall before the closing date.
