Two New No Cold Caller Zones Introduced in Helston and St Ives

Two more No Cold Caller Zones have been launched in Cornwall as part of efforts to help protect residents from rogue traders and other doorstep criminals.

Cornwall Council confirmed that new signage has been installed in Trenithick Avenue and Chytroose Close in Helston, as well as White House Close and Park Lowen in St Ives.

The newly marked areas bring the total number of new No Cold Caller Zones across Cornwall to five.

The zones are designed to discourage cold calling and provide added protection for residents against unwanted doorstep approaches.

More zones are expected to be introduced throughout the year.

Patrolled by Tri-Service Safety Officers

The zones are patrolled by Cornwall’s Tri-Service Safety Officers.

These officers work together with Devon and Cornwall Police, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, and the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

Serious penalties for offenders

Cold calling within a No Cold Caller Zone is considered an aggressive practice under the Digital Markets Competition and Consumer Act 2024.

If someone is prosecuted for breaking the rules, they could face a fine or even a prison sentence of up to two years.
