Banned driver’s Mini seized by St Ives and Penzance police

One car is sitting on a West Cornwall lane with a sign in its windscreen that no owner wants to see. Another was left behind by whoever was driving it. Both are now in police hands after a run of patrol shifts around Penzance and St Ives.

Officers from E Section Patrol, part of the Penzance and St Ives Sector of Devon & Cornwall Police, have been out on the roads this week, and Hayle and St Ives Police has shared what they turned up.

A disqualified driver stopped

The driver of a Mini was pulled over and found to be disqualified from driving. They have been reported to court for the offence, and the car was seized on the spot.

A BMW that didn’t stop

A little later in the shift, officers signalled for a BMW to pull over. It made off instead.

It didn’t get far. The car was soon found abandoned and was seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

Out day and night across West Cornwall

The team works under Sergeant Dan, who comes from a traffic background, and the police say E Section is proactively engaging with drivers to make the roads safer for everyone who uses them.

That covers disqualified drivers, unsafe driving and vehicles being used irresponsibly, with patrol officers out and about around West Cornwall at all hours. Their message to anyone behind the wheel is a short one. Make sure you’re legal, insured and driving safely.
