Camborne police week: knife arrest, cadets and a Penponds fire

A new face is learning the ropes on the neighbourhood beat, a knife has been recovered from the street in Pool, and a group of youths are being referred to youth justice after a hedge went up in flames in Penponds. It has been a busy few days for Camborne, Pool and Redruth Police, who have rounded up the week’s incidents from across the patch.

Among the more welcome news this week is the arrival of student officer PC Williams, who is being tutored by PC Hutchens on the neighbourhood team. PC Williams started training in January and, according to the update, is enjoying the hands-on learning that comes with being out in the community.

Knife recovered after a search in Pool

A more serious incident saw a suspect threaten someone with a knife in Pool. Officers carried out an area search and found a person matching the description given, and the knife itself was also recovered. The police have credited the outcome to good teamwork from the D Section response team.

Cadets show off fingerprinting at Carn Brea

On a lighter note, the force’s Police Cadets were out at the Carn Brea family fun day, where they gave children a look inside a police car and had a go at taking their fingerprints. The update says the cadets had a great time meeting the local families who came along.

£40 fine for kicking wing mirrors off police cars

A male who kicked three wing mirrors off police vehicles has been through the courts and fined £40 for the damage.

Drunk teenagers taken home in Camborne

Elsewhere in Camborne, a group of drunk children were found and taken home to their parents, with appropriate referrals submitted following the incident.

Arrest in Camborne after Iceland shoplifting bid

A male has been arrested and was in custody on suspicion of assaults, shoplifting and breaches of his Criminal Behaviour Order. Officers thanked the member of the public at Iceland in Camborne who stepped in and stopped the man leaving with further items.

Youths referred after Penponds hedge fire

A number of youths are being referred to youth justice after setting fire to a hedge in Penponds. Local people put the flames out before they could spread further, and the photograph shared by police shows the scale of the scorching left behind.
