Cloned Vehicle Seized Following Speeding Stop on A30 Near Truro

Officers from the Devon & Cornwall Police Road Safety Team uncovered more than a speeding offence after stopping a car on the A30 near Truro last week.

Speeding Stop Raises Suspicion

Speed detection officers stopped a red Seat for speeding on the A30 near Truro. While dealing with the offence, officers became concerned about the vehicle and asked police patrols to keep an eye out for it.

ANPR Alert Confirms Cloned Vehicle

The car was later picked up by ANPR cameras, allowing officers to catch up with it. Checks established that the vehicle was a clone and was displaying false Slovakian number plates. Although three different cars were involved, all were using the same identical plate.

Arrests Made and Car Seized

The Romanian driver was arrested for several offences and the vehicle was seized.

The passenger was found to be unlawfully in the country after overstaying his visa. He was arrested and later deported by the Border Force.

More Than Just Speed

The Road Safety Team said their speed detection officers sometimes detect more than just speed, as this stop ultimately led to the discovery of a cloned vehicle and further offences being dealt with.
