Four men arrested after Liskeard murder investigation launched

Liskeard woke to a heavy police presence yesterday after a man was found dead inside a property on Baytree Hill, and by last night four men were sitting in police custody on suspicion of his murder.

What happened at Baytree Hill

Police were called shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday 13 September after a report that a man had been located deceased within a property at Baytree Hill. Officers attended the address and found the victim inside.

Four arrests in fast-moving enquiries

A local man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Fast-paced enquiries then identified three further suspects. Two local men, aged in their 40s and 50s respectively, were soon located nearby and arrested on suspicion of murder. A man in his 20s from Plymouth has since also been arrested on suspicion of murder.

All four suspects remain in police custody at this time. The victim is believed to be a man in his 50s from Liskeard, although formal identification has yet to take place.

“No wider threat to the community”

Detective Inspector Pete Gee said residents in Liskeard would see an increased police presence around the town as the investigation continues at pace.

“We appreciate incidents such as this cause great concern within the community, however we do not believe there is any wider threat to the community at this time,” he said.
