Free One Day Motorcycle Safety Course Offered to Young Riders
The Devon & Cornwall Police Road Safety Team is inviting expressions of interest from young motorcyclists in Cornwall and Devon to take part in a one day free rider safety course.
The course is aimed at 17 to 24 year olds who ride 125cc motorcycles and would take place on a Saturday if there is enough interest.
What the day would involve
According to the Road Safety Team, the day would focus on rider safety and defensive riding and would be delivered by Devon and Cornwall Police alongside VZSW.
The programme would include a short classroom presentation described as relaxed and friendly, followed by time using a motorcycle simulator. The simulator would be used to assess hazard perception.
After this, attendees would take part in an observed ride out with a police motorcyclist, who would provide observations on their riding. Breaks for refreshments would be included during the day.
Limited spaces available
Spaces would be limited to 14 riders. Dates have not yet been confirmed and would only be set if there is sufficient interest.
Anyone interested is asked to email Dave Burrows at dave.burrows@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk to register their interest.
