Motorcyclist critical after crash at Castle an Dinas, Cornwall

An orange Royal Enfield with a sidecar, a quiet stretch of the B3274, and a Tuesday evening that turned serious in moments. Police have launched an appeal after a motorcyclist was left fighting for his life in a collision near Castle an Dinas.

What happened

Emergency services were called at around 7.10pm on Tuesday 4 August following a crash on the B3274 at Castle an Dinas. The motorcycle involved was an orange Royal Enfield fitted with a sidecar.

Ambulance and fire crews attended the scene alongside police officers.

The rider, a man in his 60s from St Austell, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, where he remains in a critical condition.

Road closed while officers investigated

The B3274 was closed after the collision and reopened at around 10pm, giving officers time to examine the scene.

The appeal

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or who was driving in the area with a dashcam running around the time of the crash.
