Police Warning After Spate of High-Value Thefts in East Cornwall

Police are investigating a series of residential burglaries reported over the last few days across east Cornwall.

Homes in Bodmin, Launceston and Bude have been affected, with detectives believing an organised crime group is responsible.

Homes Targeted While Owners Were at Work

According to Devon and Cornwall Police, thieves are believed to have deliberately targeted the homes of small business owners while they were at work.

Detective Constable Harry Mills said officers believe addresses were specifically selected, with jewellery and cash taken during the burglaries.

How the Burglaries Were Carried Out

Harry said thieves forced entry through the rear of properties before carrying out thorough searches to locate gold, concealed cash and jewellery. In some cases, safes were also targeted and removed from homes.

He said:
“We believe that the gang have specifically targeting addresses taking jewellery and cash.

“Thieves have gained entry by forcing their way through the rear of properties and thorough searches have been conducted to locate gold, concealed cash, and jewellery. Safes have also been targeted and removed from properties.”

Increased Patrols and Appeal for Information

Police say proactive patrols are taking place in the affected areas and across the county. Residents are being urged to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activity and review their home security arrangements.
