Want to Make a Difference? Devon & Cornwall Police Are Recruiting PCSOs Now
Devon & Cornwall Police are on the lookout for new Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) to join their team, offering a rewarding career for those eager to play a vital role in their local communities.
What Does a PCSO Do?
PCSOs act as a crucial link between the police, the public, and community partners. They are a visible presence in neighbourhoods, tackling anti-social behaviour, gathering intelligence, and addressing local concerns. Working closely with local authorities, businesses, and Neighbourhood Watch groups, they help maintain safe and secure communities.
Their responsibilities include:
- Engaging with the public to understand community concerns
- Supporting safeguarding efforts and reducing risks to vulnerable individuals
- Problem-solving to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
- Preventing crime through proactive patrols and intelligence gathering
A Rewarding Career Path
PSCO Bob Bayly shared his experience, having served in the role for 18 years after a 23-year military career. “I have enjoyed the last 18 years engaging with my local community, being outdoors, and working on projects to improve the lives of the people of Plymouth,” he said. “Each day is always different, and the work is exciting and demanding.”
Bob is set to retire this year, satisfied that he has made a meaningful impact. “It has been a rewarding career and one that I recommend,” he added.
