Where Cornwall and Devon’s speed cameras are out this week

You ease off the accelerator without quite meaning to, eyes flicking towards a hedge, a bridge parapet, a layby that looks a bit too convenient. Every week, Devon and Cornwall Police‘s Road Safety Team publishes exactly where its speed detection officers will be working, and this week’s list covers almost every corner of both counties.

Where officers will be watching, day by day

According to the Devon & Cornwall Police Road Safety Team, speed detection officers will primarily be working in these areas over the week commencing Monday 14 September.

• Monday 14 September: West Cornwall, Mid Cornwall, Mid Devon, Exeter
• Tuesday 15 September: West Devon
• Wednesday 16 September: East Cornwall, Mid Cornwall, Plymouth, East Devon, North Devon, South Devon
• Thursday 17 September: Mid Cornwall, West Cornwall, East Cornwall, North Devon, South Devon
• Friday 18 September: Mid Cornwall, Plymouth, Exeter, Mid Devon, North Devon, South Hams, South Devon
• Saturday 19 September: East Cornwall, West Devon, East Devon
• Sunday 20 September: East Cornwall, Mid Devon, West Devon

The pattern across the week

Mid Cornwall and East Cornwall come up more than anywhere else on the list, each featuring on four separate days. Friday is the busiest day for coverage, with officers spread across seven areas from Mid Cornwall to South Hams. Tuesday is the quietest, with West Devon the only area named.

What it means if you’re driving this week

The sensible approach is to treat the whole list as a reminder rather than a map to avoid. Speed detection officers work plenty of locations that never make it onto a weekly police post, so sticking to the limit everywhere, not just in the areas named above, is the only way to be sure. That is the message the Road Safety Team itself closes on.
