Giant Snails, Scorpions and a Tiny Fly Are Taking Over The Eden Project This Half Term

The Eden Project is set to welcome some very small (and some rather unsettling) guests this May half term, as the charity teams up with Aardman’s hit animated series Lloyd of the Flies for a week of bugs, beasts and family adventure from 23rd to 31st May 2026.

Lloyd Who?

For the uninitiated, Lloyd of the Flies follows a young fly navigating the enormous challenges of being just one centimetre tall. Created by Aardman, the award-winning Bristol-based studio behind Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run, Shaun the Sheep and Morph, the CGI series launched on CITV in 2022 and quickly found its audience with 7 to 11-year-olds.

What’s On at Eden?

Families visiting Eden during half term can follow a brand new interactive trail created in partnership with the Royal Entomological Society, featuring both augmented reality and paper-based challenges running throughout the gardens. Character sculptures inspired by the show will be dotted across the gardens and iconic Biomes, and themed craft activities will be on offer throughout the week.

The Bit That Will Either Thrill or Terrify Your Kids

The headline activity is a hands-on Zoolab garden adventure, which invites families to meet a frankly extraordinary line-up of real creatures. We’re talking giant African land snails, curly haired tarantulas, Madagascan hissing cockroaches, a king snake and an Asian forest scorpion, all connected to the habitats Lloyd encounters in the series.

Simon Townsend, Eden Project general manager, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing Lloyd’s miniature world to life at Eden this half term. One of the most exciting parts of this programme will be the chance for brave bug spotters to meet the real world animals that live in the same kinds of habitats we recreate in our Biomes.”

He added: “From giant snails and hissing cockroaches to gentle snakes and scorpions, these remarkable creatures are found in the very ecosystems we explore and work to protect through our mission as a charity and social enterprise, so we’re excited to be offering families another memorable way to connect with and learn about nature this half term.”

Something New to Explore Too

Visitors will also be able to try Eden’s new permanent play installation, the Giant Marble Runs, which launched on 28th March as part of the charity’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Featuring more than 100 metres of interactive wooden tracks, visitors of all ages can follow hand-carved wooden marbles as they twist and tumble through the gardens.

Tickets and Pricing

All May half term activities are included in the standard admission price. Marbles for the Giant Marble Runs can be hired for a £5 returnable deposit.

Admission starts from £35.50 for adults and £12 for children, with under fives admitted free. Those receiving Universal Credit, Pension Credit or UK Legacy Credit can enter for £15 per adult and £7.50 per child. Devon and Cornwall residents can pick up a Locals’ Pass from £29.80 per adult and £12 per child, a saving of more than 30 per cent, available year round.
