Newquay Town Council’s Festive Recycling Initiative Turns Christmas Trees into Blooming Success
Newquay Town Council has launched an innovative and eco-friendly Christmas tree recycling program that’s making a positive impact on the environment and the community.
Throughout the holiday season, the council provided a convenient drop-off point at South Fistral Car Park, specifically the grass car park on Atlantic Road. Residents enthusiastically took advantage of this opportunity to dispose of their Christmas trees, ensuring a sustainable and green start to the new year.

But what sets this initiative apart is not just the act of recycling Christmas trees, but how the trees are repurposed. Instead of sending them to landfills, the council has undertaken a creative approach by converting the trees into mulch. This mulch will serve a noble purpose – nourishing the town’s flowerbeds and contributing to the overall beautification of Newquay.
The council’s commitment to this eco-friendly project extends beyond the holiday season. Residents will have the opportunity to drop off their Christmas trees at the designated site until January 31st 2024. This extended period ensures that as many trees as possible can be recycled into mulch, benefitting Newquay’s green spaces.
As the program continues to gain momentum, Newquay residents can take pride in their collective efforts to promote sustainability and contribute to the town’s scenic charm. It’s a clear example of how communities can work together to make a positive impact on their environment and enhance the beauty of their surroundings.
Newquay Town Council’s initiative serves as a shining example of turning the holiday spirit into a year-round commitment to conservation and community enhancement. With the continued support of its residents, Newquay is poised to bloom with renewed vitality in the coming months, thanks to the humble Christmas trees that once adorned their homes.
