Get Your Bake On: Cornwall Christmas Fair Seeks Cake Donations for Charity

Published On: 17 October 2024Last Updated: 17 October 2024By

Home bakers across Cornwall are being called to support local communities by donating cakes to this year’s Cornwall Christmas Fair, which is set to take place at the Eden Project on Thursday, 28th November.

The volunteer organisers have issued a rallying cry, encouraging cake-making enthusiasts to roll up their sleeves for charity. Cakes donated will be sold at The Great Coodes Christmas Cake Stand, with all proceeds going to the Cornwall Community Foundation, a charity that supports grassroots groups throughout the county.

How to Get Involved

Whether you’re a home baker, a pastry professional, or just love making sweet treats, this is your chance to make a difference. Donated cakes, puddings, cupcakes, cookies, or other baked goods can be dropped off at any Coodes office across Cornwall in the days leading up to the Fair. The cakes should be securely packaged in cellophane with a full list of ingredients, allergy warnings, and a best before date.

For more information or to confirm your donation, contact Jeni Luke on 01726 874734 or via email at jeni.luke@coodes.co.uk, or reach out to Kitty Galsworthy at kfgalsworthy@gmail.com.

The Event

Taking place at the iconic Eden Project, the Cornwall Christmas Fair will feature over 60 stalls showcasing products from independent makers in Cornwall and beyond. From gift ideas to artisan food and drink, visitors can browse a wide variety of products while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

The Fair is set to raise much-needed funds for the Cornwall Community Foundation, following last year’s impressive total of nearly £80,000. As part of the event, The Garden Baker will be donating a showstopper cake that visitors can try to win by correctly guessing its weight, with each guess costing £2.

Tickets and Opening Times

The Fair will run from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, 28th November, with tickets priced at £20. The ticket price includes lunch, wine, and free admission to the Eden Project. There is also a Preview & Shopping Evening on Wednesday, 27th November, from 5pm to 9pm, with tickets available for £32, which includes supper and a drink on arrival.

With local businesses like Lillicrap Chilcott, Wildanet, and Rodda’s sponsoring the event, the Cornwall Christmas Fair promises to be a highlight of the festive season while supporting a great cause.
