Barratt Homes Launches Pop-Up Children’s Library in Falmouth for World Book Day

A housebuilder in Falmouth has launched a pop-up library for local children to mark World Book Day, offering families the chance to pick up a free storybook.

Barratt Homes has installed the small library outside the sales office at its Pen Bethan development on Hillhead Road, with books available to collect from 5th March.

The pop-up library includes brand-new editions of children’s stories, including The Crocodile Who Came For Dinner, and local families are invited to take a book while supplies last.

Free Books for Local Children

Children across Falmouth can visit the development to collect a storybook from the library, which has been set up to celebrate World Book Day.

The books are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and Barratt Homes is encouraging families in the area to drop by and choose a story.

To help keep the library stocked, the housebuilder is also asking members of the community to donate any unwanted or outgrown children’s books.

Built by Barratt Apprentices

The library itself was created by Barratt’s apprentices, who hand-painted it in bright red before installing it outside the sales office at Pen Bethan.

About the Pen Bethan Development

Pen Bethan is located around three miles from Falmouth town centre and sits within 2.2 acres of open space.

The development includes a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes, along with a new children’s play area and 1.4 acres of biodiversity-enhanced landscaping. This includes more than 100 new trees, 5,900 hedgerow saplings, and bee-friendly planting designed to support local wildlife.
