Budock Vean’s Wimbledon Tea Comes With an Edible Tennis Ball
Strawberries and cream are a given during Wimbledon fortnight. A lemon cheesecake shaped like a tennis ball is less expected.
Budock Vean Hotel & Spa is marking this year’s Wimbledon Championships with a special afternoon tea, served daily from 1pm to 4pm between 29 June and 12 July. It runs across the whole tournament, so there is time to fit it in around the matches.

What’s on the menu
The afternoon tea costs £30 per person and comes with a glass of fizz. It starts with a pot of tea or coffee and a selection of finger sandwiches: smoked salmon and crème fraîche, Westcountry ham with grain mustard mayonnaise, and cheddar cheese with heritage tomato.
Then come the freshly baked scones with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam.
The sweet treats lean into the tennis theme. There’s the lemon cheesecake “tennis ball”, a strawberries and cream gâteau opéra, and a cherry Bakewell macaron.
When and where
The Wimbledon Afternoon Tea is a limited-edition menu, available only for the two weeks of the Championships. Budock Vean is calling it a quintessentially British way to enjoy the season in the heart of Cornwall.
Bookings run daily, 1pm to 4pm, from 29 June through to 12 July, at £30 per person.
