The organisers of the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival are on the lookout for comperes for the 2026 event, calling on confident speakers who can help keep crowds entertained throughout the festival.

Comperes Wanted for 2026
In a call shared by the festival team, they are asking for people who are comfortable using a microphone and able to introduce shanty groups without hesitation.
The role involves keeping the audience engaged between performances, with a mix of quick thinking and good humour expected from those taking part.
A Unique Set of Skills
According to the organisers, applicants should be able to handle tricky group names and adapt whether performing stone-cold sober or after a few pints. A love of sea shanties is also listed as essential.
