Falmouth’s horticultural apprentice shortlisted for Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards

A Falmouth Town Council apprentice is in the running for a prestigious award at this year’s Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards.

A Year of Dedication Pays Off

Georgia, a horticultural apprentice with Falmouth Town Council, has been shortlisted for the Land-Based Award at the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards 2024. The event, hosted by Truro and Penwith College at the Eden Project next Friday, celebrates the impact of apprenticeships in shaping future careers.

Starting almost exactly a year ago, Georgia has quickly become an invaluable asset to the Grounds team. Her work has focused on improving Falmouth’s green spaces, taking on extra responsibilities, and supporting community events.

Recognition for Passion and Hard Work

Falmouth Town Council’s Grounds Manager, Simon Penna, praised Georgia’s dedication:

“Georgia’s passion for sustainability and biodiversity has been evident from the start. She is committed to improving Falmouth’s green spaces and always eager to learn and take on new challenges. Her hands-on contributions, from leading planting projects to gaining key vocational qualifications, have made a real difference. She has also taken on extra responsibilities, supporting community events, showing that apprenticeships are about more than just learning a trade—they’re also about making a positive impact. Georgia has become an invaluable member of the team, and it’s fantastic to see her hard work recognised.”

Best of Luck at the Awards

Falmouth Town Council has shared its pride in Georgia’s achievements, highlighting the impact of her work in all weathers to maintain and improve the town’s green spaces.

With the awards just around the corner, all eyes are on Georgia as she competes for recognition at the Eden Project next week. Good luck, Georgia!
