Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival Launches Park & Ride for 2026

Anyone who has tried to find a parking space in Falmouth during the Sea Shanty Festival knows the drill. You circle the streets, you give up, you park somewhere questionable and walk for twenty minutes. This year, there’s another option, and it arrives just as the town braces for one of its busiest weekends.

For the first time ever, the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival 2026 has partnered with Falmouth University and the University of Exeter to launch a Park & Ride service called the Shanty Shuttle. The service runs across the festival weekend, from the 12th to the 14th of June 2026, operating out of the University’s Penryn Campus.

The festival is one of the largest free nautical music and song festivals in Europe, drawing visitors from across the globe for three days of live shanty music. It also runs at the same time as Falmouth Classics, a three-day heritage boat regatta featuring racing, a parade of sail, and onshore events, which means the town will be even busier than usual.

How it works

There are roughly 2,000 parking spaces available at the campus, priced at £6 per day. The site uses Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), so you can simply arrive, park, and head straight to the shuttle, then pay for parking on exit at the on-site pay stations or via the app.

The double-decker Shanty Shuttle runs continuously throughout the weekend, connecting Penryn Campus with Ponsharden and The Moor in the centre of Falmouth, dropping you close to the festival stages, harbourside performances, pubs, and sea shanty sessions. A single journey costs £2.80 each way. Alternatively, there’s a family day pass valid for two adults and up to three children, offering unlimited travel throughout the day.

The steps are straightforward. Head to Penryn Campus, Treliever Road, Penryn, TR10 9FE, and follow the signage to park. Make your way to the designated bus stop at the campus and board the shuttle into town. When you’re ready to head home, return to the stop on The Moor and catch the shuttle back. You pay for parking on exit at an on-site pay station.

Penryn Campus sits roughly three miles from Falmouth town centre. If you’re driving in, follow the signs for Falmouth University as you approach. You can view the location on Google Maps.
