Falmouth Spring Clean Planned for 25th March

Falmouth Gears Up for Big Spring Clean Across the Town

Falmouth is preparing for a major town-wide Spring Clean on Wednesday 25th March, with volunteers, local organisations and businesses coming together to refresh the town ahead of the main visitor season.

Organised by Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID, the clean-up will see people working across a number of key locations, from the town centre to the coastline. The day will include litter-picking, graffiti removal, refreshing planters and general tidying to help give the town a seasonal spruce-up.

The event also forms part of the national Great British Spring Clean 2026 campaign run by Keep Britain Tidy, which takes place from 13th March to 29th March and brings together communities, schools and businesses across the country to care for their local areas.

Schools and Community Groups Getting Involved

Students from Falmouth School will be joining forces with Friends of Tregoniggie Woodland to litter-pick their way through the Green Corridor. They will also work alongside Friends of Swanpool to tidy up around the nature reserve.

When the students reach Swanpool Beach, they will be met by Plastic Free Falmouth, who will be speaking with them about the importance of protecting the environment and leaving only footprints when enjoying natural spaces.

Mrs Joanne Guest, headteacher at Falmouth School, said the day offers an important learning experience for pupils.

“At Falmouth School, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom, and days like this are a perfect example of that in action. Getting our students out into the community, working alongside local organisations, learning about environmental responsibility and taking real pride in the place they call home, is incredibly valuable. Falmouth is a remarkable town, and it’s important to us that our young people understand the role they play in keeping it that way.”

Work Taking Place Across the Town

In the town centre, four groups of volunteers will be working across Falmouth’s main streets. Their tasks include litter-picking, removing graffiti and fly posters, and restoring the town’s planters ready for the busy spring and summer months.

BIFFA will also be jet washing benches across the town centre to help improve the public spaces used by both residents and visitors.

Elsewhere, several businesses and community groups will be working together in other parts of the town.

Friends of Greenbank and the Greenbank Hotel will be cleaning up the beach and green space at Greenbank. St Michaels Resort will be joining Friends of Boscawen Fields to carry out work at Gyllyngvase Beach.

At Pendennis Headland, English Heritage will be holding a workday to maintain the well-known landmark, while the Dracaena Centre will be tidying the playing fields and skatepark to help keep these community spaces in good condition as the warmer weather approaches.

A Community Effort

The scale of this year’s Spring Clean reflects the strong community spirit in Falmouth, with volunteers, organisations and businesses all giving their time to help care for the town.
