Falmouth Week needs volunteer marshals for 8 August

Falmouth Week is on the hunt for a few extra pairs of hands, and you do not need any experience to lend one.

Marshals wanted for Falmouth Carnival

The team behind Falmouth Week is looking for volunteers to help at Falmouth Carnival on Saturday 8 August. The role involves marshalling small road closures between Falmouth Rugby Club and Grove Place, and there is no marshalling experience needed to take part.

Anyone who signs up gets a full safety briefing beforehand. The Devon & Cornwall 4×4 Response team will be covering the key road closures alongside the volunteers, so nobody is left to work it out on their own.

What is Falmouth Week?

Falmouth Week is one of the big fixtures in the town’s summer calendar, drawing locals and visitors in equal measure. Its origins go back as far as 1837 as a local sailing regatta, and it has since grown into one of the major sailing competitions in the South West, with plenty for landlubbers to enjoy alongside the sailors.

The Pink Wig Mermaid March and Falmouth Carnival kickstart the whole week.

Things to see and do

On The Moor and Events Square there is a run of family friendly activities in the heart of Falmouth, including a vintage hand-turned carousel, music from local musicians, an eclectic market and Falmouth Art Gallery workshops.

Evenings move to the Waterfront Marquee, where a full week of entertainment organised by Southwest Bars and Events runs from the famous 80’s and 00’s night through to Ska night.
