Four Shoplifting Suspects Arrested by Police in Falmouth

Police in Falmouth and Helston say four prolific shoplifting offenders have been arrested following a week of action targeting retail crime.

Cornwall’s Neighbourhood Support Team has been working with Falmouth neighbourhood officers to disrupt and arrest suspected shoplifters in the area.

Two offenders arrested last week

Police confirmed that two prolific offenders were arrested last week. Both were remanded to court and later released on court bail while awaiting trial.

Two more arrests made today

Today (Thursday 12th March), officers arrested two further prolific offenders for theft shoplifting offences. Police said the pair were also wanted on two live warrants issued by another force area.

Both offenders are expected to be remanded in custody to appear before court tomorrow.

£3,000 worth of shop theft

Police say the four offenders are collectively responsible for more than £3,000 in shop theft.

Officers highlighted the impact of shoplifting on local businesses, stating that it causes significant financial harm and creates anxiety for shop staff.

Increased patrols planned

Police say increased planned plain clothes patrols will take place as officers continue working closely with local retailers to prevent further offences.

Businesses and residents are being encouraged to report thefts and any suspicious behaviour to police.
