Person Pulled from Water in Helford River Lifeboat Call-Out
Volunteer Crew Launch to Urgent Call
Falmouth Lifeboat’s volunteer crew were called into action at 4.19pm on Saturday 1st November 2025 after Falmouth Coastguard received a 999 call reporting a person in difficulties in the water near the mouth of the Helford River.
Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team were both in attendance.
Swift Response from Falmouth Lifeboat
The Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Robina Nixon Chard launched within eight minutes with a full crew of four, including a doctor, and arrived on scene ten minutes later.
In slight seas and with support from the Coastguard rescue teams, the casualty was quickly located and taken onboard the lifeboat to receive casualty care.
Helicopter Assistance and Safe Handover
The helmsman requested assistance from the Coastguard helicopter, which winched a medic onto the lifeboat to provide further support.
The decision was then made to return to the lifeboat station, where the casualty was handed over to a waiting ambulance.
The lifeboat was made ready for further service by 6.00pm. The RNLI recorded the rescue as a life saved.
