There were more wagging tails than usual in the garden at Falmouth Court Care Home last week, as members of the public brought their dogs along for a special photography day. For an afternoon, the courtyard on Dracaena Avenue filled with paws, leads and a lot of fuss being made of four-legged visitors.

A day of paws and portraits

Residents at the home gathered outside to welcome the dogs into their garden, taking turns to stroke, cuddle and chat to the animals as they came round. For many, it was a chance to swap stories about pets they had loved over the years, with the dogs themselves proving just as happy to soak up the attention.

£143 raised for the local pet food bank

The event was organised in collaboration with the Creature Feature Show Community Interest Company, and raised £143 for the local pet food bank, helping support pets and their owners in the Falmouth community.

“The therapeutic influence animals can bring”

Operations Manager Gemma Parkin said the visit had gone down well with residents. “Our residents have really enjoyed seeing so many wagging tails visit them,” she said. “It was wonderful to see the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can bring, particularly for residents who may find it difficult to get out on many outings.”
