St Austell Brewery Wins Four Medals at International Brewing Awards

Published On: 10 March 2026Last Updated: 10 March 2026By

A Cornish brewery is celebrating a major moment in its long history after picking up four medals at one of the world’s most respected beer competitions.

St Austell Brewery has been recognised at the 2026 International Brewing Awards, often described as the “Oscars of the brewing industry”.

Established in 1888, the awards are judged solely by professional brewers and focus on technical excellence in brewing.

This year’s results mark an especially significant milestone for the independent, family owned brewery. The latest wins mean the business has now collected 350 beer awards across its 175 year history.

Gold for Special Tribute Beer

Among the medals was a gold award for 2025 Extra Special Tribute (EST), which was the only gold winner in its category.

The 7.4% ABV strong ale is brewed using all British ingredients and is described as a bold reinterpretation of the brewery’s flagship pale ale, Tribute (4.2% ABV).

EST was first brewed in 2023 to mark the coronation of King Charles III. Since then it has become a special annual release produced in small batches, with every bottle individually numbered.

Each edition is brewed to a unique recipe before being bottle conditioned and matured.

Silver Medals for Two Flagship Beers

Two silver medals were also awarded.

Proper Job 0.5% secured silver in the ultra low alcohol category. Modelled on the flagship Proper Job IPA, it keeps the same hop profile using Cascade, Willamette and Chinook hops, giving citrus, grapefruit and pine flavours despite its low ABV.

The brewery’s flagship lager Korev (4.8% ABV) also received a silver medal. Korev is known for its clean and refreshing character.

Bronze for Proper Job IPA

Completing the awards was a bronze medal for Proper Job (4.5% ABV) in the cask conditioned beer category.

The IPA is brewed with bold American hops and is celebrating its 20th birthday this year.
