Trevethan Gin has backed the Trencherman’s Guide Awards for a 4th year, and the Saltash distillery is using the moment to signal a shift back towards its Cornish roots.

The Trencherman’s Guide Awards took place on Monday 27th April 2026, with Trevethan returning as a long-standing sponsor.

A homecoming in hospitality

Carly Fordy, Brand Manager at Trevethan Distillery, said the sponsorship goes beyond visibility.

“Supporting the Guide is so important to us as we want to show our commitment to supporting premium hospitality, independent venues, and the thriving drinks industry across the South West. It’s not just about visibility, it’s about genuinely supporting the community, building lasting relationships, and being part of a network that brings people closer together.”

Carly was open about where the brand’s energy has been directed in recent years, and where it is going next.

“We’re coming home. We’ve spent the last few years building up our relationships with retailers such as Sainsbury’s and Waitrose which has been incredible, and now there is a job to do in going back to our roots and working with local businesses, creating cocktail menus and food pairing menus that shine and that celebrate how incredible the food and drink scene is here in the South West. In hospitality and drinks, everyone is on the same team. Collaboration matters, and supporting each other creates stronger businesses and stronger communities.”

Cocktails on the menu at top venues

Despite wider challenges in the drinks industry, Trevethan has continued to gain ground in the on-trade. Its cocktails currently feature at Cici’s Bar at Paul Ainsworth’s No.6 in Padstow, Michael Caines’ Lympstone Manor, and Ugly Butterfly by Adam Handling MBE.

The distillery puts that momentum down to a growing appetite for premium, locally made products, and a hospitality network that values collaboration over competition.

Special Contribution Award for Jill Stein

Trevethan also sponsored this year’s Special Contribution Award, which recognises individuals who have made a lasting impact within the hospitality and drinks industry. The 2026 recipient was restaurateur Jill Stein.

“It was wonderful to connect with Jill and all of the other inspirational Food and Drink producers at our table,” Carly said. “Her achievements and championing of this region over the years has had such an incredible impact on businesses and livelihoods, and we are proud to be associated with such an amazing recognition.”

From 1929 recipe to award-winning gin

Trevethan was founded in Cornwall, built around an original 1929 family recipe that was rediscovered and reimagined by Master Distiller John Hall, a trained chemist. The brand has spent more than a decade refining its distillation process, picking up multiple International Wine & Spirit Competition honours along the way, including Gin Producer of the Year in 2021, UK Gin Distillery of the Year, a Gold Outstanding Medal in 2022, and a Gold Medal in 2021.

Over the next 12 months, the distillery plans to expand its hospitality presence further, deepen partnerships across the South West, and build on the momentum from recent retail and premium venue listings.
